Who is Forests and Flights?
Hi, I’m Haley, the face behind Forest and Flights – some of my 2 favorite things!
My love for the outdoors has present since as long as I can remember. I grew up with my parents taking my brother and I camping at the local state park near Birmingham, Alabama, and hiking the trails near our house.
As we got older, those camps and hikes turned into road trips around the country. We both ventured out west and explored more of the southeast, and I started to realize how much more beauty in the world there was.
In high school, my coach heightened my love for adventure even more as he took us around the country for meets. My national travels continued, then, my junior year of college, I got to study abroad in Ireland and explore a continent I’d never been to before.
Now, I have a full time job as an engineer in Tennessee, and am a bit of a “weekend warrior”, and use the most of my PTO as I can to explore beautiful places, and now I’m here to share them with you!
Hiking is my favorite hobby and adventure travel is my passion, and I can’t wait to share all I’ve learned with you!
I’ve been to 15 countries, 29 US states, and 17 US National Parks (so far!). Through visiting these places, not only have I made amazing memories, but I’ve also learned a lot. I’ve learned the best things to do in these places – the best hikes and adventures – and I’ve also made a lot of mistakes so you don’t have to!
Let me be your adventure guide as I give you all the deets on where to go, what to do, and how to have your most epic trip to date!
Some fun facts about me:
- I have a mini Australian Shepard named Rocky! I genuinely don’t know how I did life before him, he may as well be my child.
- I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, but moved to Tennessee in 2024.
- I work full time as a water civil engineer. I use my free time to do this blog and the adventures that fuel it.
- Ireland is my favorite country. Studying abroad there was an experience I’ll never forget.
